From 1963 through 1974, Phil performed with St. Mary’s Cardinals, playing in succession French Horn, mellophone and soprano. He continued with the Legends of Drum Corps, St. Kevin’s Emerald Knights, and the Boston Crusaders Senior Corps where he marches alongside his wife Donna.
Among several administrative roles, he has served as trustee with the Crusaders Senior Corps and the Massachusetts Drum and Bugle Corps Association.
Phil has directed the St. John’s Winter Guard (WGI finalists, 1992 to 1999) and pioneered the development of “Tribute Corps” for both the Cardinals’ 70th and Arbella’s 40th anniversaries.
