Rich Evans began his drum corps activity playing French horn with C-W (Carlstadt Wood-Ridge) Townsmen in 1966. At the time, the Townsmen were the oldest continuously active corps in the country, founded in Carlstadt, New Jersey in 1880 by Gen. George A. Custer Post 17, Grand Army of the Republic. He moved to Garfield Cadets in 1968, playing contra bass horn until 1972. His participation resumed in 2000 when he again played contrabass with Holy Name Alumni, followed by participation in Nu Brass mini corps including Skyliners and Cadets alumni; New York Skyliners alumni and mini corps. His administrative activity includes recently serving on the Skyliners Alumni board of directors. Previously he served as director from 2010 to 2015 and business manager from 2005 to 2010. He holds a doctorate degree in forensic science.
